Cambodia Casinos

[ English ]

There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gaming is illegal. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime destination, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
